Stop at Corinto (Nicaragua)

On October 29th-30th, the Ocean Dream received a splendid welcome at the port of Corinto, Nicaragua.

A festival was held at night where local performers sang and danced a traditional Nicaraguan dance that is
a UNESCO intangible cultural heritage.

In return, Peace Boat participants performed traditional Japanese drum and soran and eisa dances. Having
put in hours of practice onboard, it was rewarding to have each performance received with lout cheers and
applause.

Booths set up to share Japanese traditional origami, calligraphy, and kendama were also a great success.
Not speaking each other’s language was no barrier to making new friendships during the short stay in
Nicaragua.
