[98th Cruise Report]A World without Nuclear Weapons

Aug 6th/9th.

In August of 1945, the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were atom bombed. Peace Boat has supported the abolition of nuclear weapons for many years, and on this voyage we had several relevant speeches and events, including speeches by atomic bomb survivors (or “hibakusha” in Japanese), and exhibitions of pictures and facts about those days. The hibakusha hope to help participants understand this crucial part of history, and how it affected them and others. They want atomic weapons to never be used again, and for all the nuclear weapons in the world to be abolished.
