Call to Rapa Nui (Easter Island)
Known to its Indigenous people as “Rapa Nui,” meaning Great Land, Easter Island is home to about 1,000 Moai statues. Among the island’s notable landmarks are the 15 Moai statues at Ahu Tongariki, the Moai manufacturing site at Rano Raraku, and statues in sitting positions. These statues dot various places throughout the island, and there are many mysteries remaining about the process and reason for their creation. Rapa Nui continues to fascinate with its unsolved enigmas.
