Call to the port of Callao, Peru

After crossing the Pacific Ocean, the Pacific World arrived at the port city of Callao in Peru, South America. As Peru’s gateway to the sea—a country home to numerous World Heritage sites such as Machu Picchu and Cusco, the former capital of the Inca Empire—we enjoyed a full four-day stay. On this day, we first headed to Machu Picchu, a World Heritage site revered as a sacred place of Andean civilization. The breathtaking, almost dreamlike scenery that unfolded at the end of the winding mountain road was nothing short of awe-inspiring. Surrounded by mist-covered mountains, the mysterious ruins invited us to reflect on the people and the civilization that created them, as we fully immersed ourselves in our time at Machu Picchu.
