[99th Cruise Report]A Photo with the Nobel Peace Prize Medal

Dec.7th

The International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) is a Nobel Peace Prize winning coalition of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that has greatly contributed to the adherence to and implementation of the United Nations nuclear weapon ban treaty. Peace Boat is one of the 10 groups in ICAN’s international steering group, and has played a significant role in ICAN’s work through working with Hibakusha (atomic bomb survivors) from Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Today was a special day, during which participants had the opportunity to take a photo with the official replica of the Nobel Peace Prize medal, which was gifted to the 10 groups part of ICAN’s international steering committee. Many participants joined this event, and were thrilled that they had a chance to take a photo with the Nobel Peace Prize medal. Many exclaimed that they were honored, and pleased to have such a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity on board.
