Mā’ohi Nui: Origins and the Ocean

Today’s lecture was by Guest Educator Tahima Christophe, from Mā’ohi Nui—the local name for French Polynesia in the language of its Indigenous people. During his talk, he shared stories about the history of how the Mā’ohi people voyaged across the Pacific, their traditional navigation techniques, and songs passed down through generations. This was a valuable opportunity to learn about the rich history and culture of Polynesia before visiting the region ourselves.
