Meeting the iconic Moai

After landing on Rapa Nui (Easter Island) by small boat, we finally came face to face with the Moai statues. Our first stop was Ahu Tongariki, where 15 Moai stand in a row—an iconic sight I had seen countless times in photos and videos. With the ocean behind them, the Moai gazing silently into the distance felt deeply mysterious. Combined with the vast, desolate landscape, it was a scene so captivating that I lost track of time just watching. At Rano Raraku, where unfinished Moai still remain, we were able to see the statues in many different forms. Spending the entire day immersed in moments with the Moai I had long admired made for an unforgettable experience.
