Spending the New Year in the South Pacific

The 122nd Global Voyage welcomed the new year of 2026 while sailing across the South Pacific. To celebrate the beginning of the year together with fellow travelers, a variety of festive events were held onboard the ship. One highlight took place by the pool on the 14th Deck: Kagami-biraki, a traditional New Year’s ceremony to break open a sake barrel, an essential part of Japanese celebrations. As the countdown of “3, 2, 1!” rang out and the wooden mallet struck open the lid of the sake barrel, the gathered crowd burst into enthusiastic applause. Afterwards, sake was served to the guests, and many enjoyed the joyful atmosphere of celebrating the New Year at sea.
