Passage through the Panama Canal

After departing from Cristóbal, the ship headed for one of the highlights of the cruise — the transit through the Panama Canal. Eager to witness this once-in-a-lifetime experience, many voyage participants gathered on the deck early in the morning. Stretching about 80 kilometers, the Panama Canal features several locks (water gates), designed to raise and lower ships in order to cross the difference in elevation between the coasts and the inland areas. The precise and systematic operation of these locks is fascinating to watch. From the ship’s deck and private cabin balconies, passengers fully enjoyed the unique experience of transiting the Panama Canal — a true highlight of our voyage!
