To Kerið Crater Lake

Near the Golden Circle lies Kerið Crater Lake, a striking example of Iceland’s rugged yet beautiful volcanic landscape. Formed approximately 6,500 years ago, Kerið is considered relatively young in geological terms. As a result, the iron-rich volcanic rock surrounding the crater has retained its vivid red color, while minerals dissolved from the surrounding soil have given the lake’s water a brilliant blue-green hue. The contrast between the crimson crater walls and the colorful water creates a truly spectacular sight. Guided by Iceland’s magnificent scenery, we visited a variety of remarkable locations throughout our journey. It was an unforgettable experience that allowed us to feel the power of our living planet firsthand.
