The Pacific World has docked in Otaru, a port city that has long flourished as the maritime gateway to Hokkaido. As passengers headed from the port toward the city center, they were greeted by Otaru’s iconic scenery: picturesque canals lined with charming, historic red-brick warehouses. The nostalgic streetscape—dotted with merchant houses and Western-style buildings dating from the Meiji to the early Showa eras—offered a perfect backdrop for exploration. Some passengers took the opportunity to venture a bit further to Sapporo, ensuring a thoroughly fulfilling day immersing themselves in Otaru and its surrounding region.
