Flåm

The small town of Flåm means a small flat land between steep mountains. Located at the far end of the Aurulanfjord, one of the branches of the Sognefjord, it is the base town for fjord tourism.

A Fjord Town

The town of Flåm is located deep in the fjords. This small town attracts about 450,000 tourists every year. The goal, of course, is to see the Sognefjord, the longest and deepest fjord in mainland Europe. Known as one of the most beautiful rail journeys in the world, the Flåm Railway offers breathtaking views of the fjord from the train windows as it travels through the rugged mountains. Steep mountains and deep greenery, waterfalls flowing into the sea, and idyllic villages dotting the fjord valleys will make you feel as if you have stepped into a fairy tale.

Exploring the Flåm Valley

Flåm Valley is a fascinating fjord in Western Norway that stretches through the mountains. Millions of years of glaciation have given birth to the magnificent scenery of the Flåm Valley and the Aarlandfjord. One of the best ways to enjoy Flåm is to take a stroll through the nature that has been created by the passage of time, with a variety of trails ranging from an easy one-hour stroll to a full-fledged three-hour hike each way. Flåm’s picturesque scenery includes the 17th-century Flåm Church, the lovely houses of the Lunde district, and small waterfalls.
