A project the NGO Peace Boat has been implementing since its early days is the UPA International Cooperation Project. UPA, an abbreviation of “United People’s Alliance”, signifies a union of people. This project leverages the unique capabilities of large passenger ships to deliver various aid supplies around the world. On this day, a packing activity was held to make it easier to transport and distribute the aid collected from across Japan before boarding. Supplies donated by individuals, companies, and local governments were divided into smaller packages by many helping hands, so that they could be delivered directly into the hands of people at the ports of call, based on local requests shared in advance.
