We enjoyed Halloween on the ship – a day to celebrate the autumn harvest and welcome the spirits of ancestors, as well as ward off bad spirits. The Free Space area onboard was decorated with familiar Jack o’ Lanterns. Apparently turnips used to be used for this, but after the tradition crossed over to the United States, pumpkins became more common. Carving scary faces into the vegetables and placing them on windows was said to help ward off bad spirits.

During various events onboard we could learn about Halloween traditions around the world, enjoy face painting and a photo booth, and more!

The climax at the end of the day was a fashion show and disco. Participants dressed in all kinds of costumes, posing to show them off. The exciting evening also included many unique performances.
